Open Source Enigma Replica Project Launches On Kickstarter

If you fancy owning your very own open source Enigma replica a new project has launched over on the Kickstarter crowd funding website that might interest you.

The original Enigma was a range of electro-mechanical rotor cipher machines used in the twentieth century for enciphering and deciphering secret messages and was invented by German engineer Arthur Scherbius at the end of World War I.

The new Kickstarter project is hoping to take a prototype of the Enigma original design into production, allowing users to be able to use to encrypt and decrypt their own messages. watch the video below to learn more about this interesting and historical project.

“Imagine having this iconic device on your desk: You can use it to simply display a scrolling marquee of any text message on its unique LED screen or encrypt/decrypt any information you wish using (still today) a very secure key.

This is an ideal device to teach or learn about encryption, history & math. Because of its open software & the community of developers, the possibilities are endless & your reward is bound to increase in value over time as new applications (like e-mail encryption, secure router, etc) are written.”

The open source Enigma replica project is currently over on the Kickstarter crowd funding website looking to raise enough pledges to make the jump from concept to production. So if you think the Enigma replica is something you could benefit from, visit the Kickstarter website now to make a pledge and help the open source Enigma become a reality.
