Our Antikythera Mechanism Replica Being Donated to Antikythera Island

With the help of one of our supporters, we are proud to be donating one of our replicas of the historic mechanism to the island of Antikythera in Greece.

We want to thank Michalis Polychronakis for making all of this possible. Michalis is an associate professor at Stony Brook University who is from Greece and spends his summers on Antikythera and Crete. Months ago, he told us that no replica of the mechanism exists on the island for locals and visitors to see and experience. He intended to donate the unit he ordered to the local community.
The Antikythera Mechanism Replica we are donating together will be the first to exist on the island.
We've arranged for him to have his own unit and for us to donate a unit to the island in his name. He is in contact with the president of the local community (his name is Γιώργος Χαρχαλακης - Antikythera is part of the Municipality of Kythira: https://kythira.gr/koinotites/ ) and will make sure it's placed in the local community office for everyone to admire.
